The wacko idiot ignores reality again. We got rid of this product, and
gradually, the ozone hole has been shrinking. That shrinking is now
decreasing, as the CFC-11 in the upper atmosphere increases again.

But I'm sure you are immune to sunburn, and don't care about anybody or
any other living things that may be damaged by UV if the ozone hole
starts to grow again. This problem was a clear case of man caused damage
to the planet, and proof that mankind can reverse the damage they cause
if they take action early enough.

I don't see sunburn as a problem. I don't burn, I have decent skin. If you're really pale, I don't care, or you can use suncream or wear more clothes. Survival of the fittest, you lose.

Fact that it is being detected is meaningless without numbers being
given. Most ozone depleting chemicals come from the earth itself so
magnitude is important. I hear all Chinese big cities have high air
pollution which is more harmful to people than the ozone level at the
south pole.

I read somewhere that According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS),
the world’s volcanoes, both on land and undersea, generate about 200
million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) annually, while our automotive and
industrial activities cause some 24 billion tons of CO2 emissions every
year worldwide.

CFC's are man made but other naturally occurring chlorine containing
contaminants cause ozone depletion.

You can google all this up and we all know about lying with statistics,

You claim to have it, you provide it.

As to lying, it's remarkable how so many of the right wingnuts immediately
segue to claims about lying with statistics over any science.
In this case, it's just a report that manmade flurocarbons, which have
been banned, for some reason have reversed their decades long steady decline
in the atmosphere and in the last two years
are increasing. Yet your response to that is denial, obfuscation, trying
to imply that nature did it. Quite remarkable and worthy of the
Rush Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies that relies
on profound science, like "the earth is so big, it's impossible for man to have any effect". No further science needed.

world is below the 55th parallel. In fact the only place in the
southern hemisphere below 55 is Antarctica and the very tip of South
America. Penguins don't get sunburn either.
Fact that it is being detected is meaningless without numbers being
given. Most ozone depleting chemicals come from the earth itself so
magnitude is important. I hear all Chinese big cities have high air
pollution which is more harmful to people than the ozone level at the
south pole.
I read somewhere that volcanos pollute the atmosphere more than man ever could. The ash volcanos spew into the atmosphere is especially rough on jet engines. o_O

An Emergency Call Centre worker has been fired in Toronto much to the dismay of her colleagues, who were unhappy with her dismissal.
It seems that a caller dialled 911 from a cell phone stating, "I'm depressed and lying on a railway line so that when the train comes I can finally meet Allah."
To which the call centre employee replied, "Remain calm and stay on the line."

Here in the U.S. it only takes one bullet. If people would simply behave themselves there would be less of a need for a large police force. The problems start when you mix a number of disparate cultures together and some of them accept violence as a part of their daily lives. America was once The Wild West but not so much these days. o_O

Here in The South, if you break into an occupied home, the chances are you will get shot dead. The homeowner may walk you out back to the patio and shoot you there to keep from messing up the carpet. Blood is easy to hose off a concrete patio. Me and my brother have both caught burglars in our business, stomped them until they quit twitching and thinking they were dead, planned to toss the bodies in the nearest dumpster until the bloody burglars came to. They were forced to crawl out the front door into the middle of the street and left there. Funny how they never told the police what really happened to them. ^_^

starts to grow again.
You also live in a place where the sun doesn't shine. Most of the
world is below the 55th parallel.
The ash volcanos spew into the atmosphere is especially rough on jet engines. o_O
[8~{} Uncle Ash Monster
I guess the FAA must now mandate ash filters on engines. That would also
deal with the bird intake problem.

If you have an idea how a modern jet engine on a passenger plane works, there are combustors in the engine where the combustion of the fuel/air mixture takes place and when a jet engine ingests volcanic ash, the interior of these combustors get coated with the ash which melts and coats the inside of the combustors thus clogging them up and killing the jet engine. Imagine ash clogging the air filter of your motor vehicle engine choking it out. Even worse would be if you ran the internal combustion engine without an air filter and it sucked in ash. The ash would melt in the combustion chambers fouling the spark plugs and coating the combustion chambers and valves really messing up the engine. o_O

to the planet, and proof that mankind can reverse the damage they cause
if they take action early enough.
I don't see sunburn as a problem. I don't burn, I have decent skin. If you're really pale, I don't care, or you can use suncream or wear more clothes. Survival of the fittest, you lose.
You also live in a place where the sun doesn't shine. Most of the
world is below the 55th parallel.
The ash volcanos spew into the atmosphere is especially rough on jet engines. o_O
[8~{} Uncle Ash Monster
I guess the FAA must now mandate ash filters on engines. That would also
deal with the bird intake problem.
Isn't it impossible (due to lowering the air supply or something), or the volcano that blew up in Iceland (ish) about 5 years ago wouldn't have been such a problem. I did laugh that a bit of ash could stop a 21st century plane.
--
If you have an idea how a modern jet engine on a passenger plane works, there are combustors in the engine where the combustion of the fuel/air mixture takes place and when a jet engine ingests volcanic ash, the interior of these combustors get coated with the ash which melts and coats the inside of the combustors thus clogging them up and killing the jet engine. Imagine ash clogging the air filter of your motor vehicle engine choking it out. Even worse would be if you ran the internal combustion engine without an air filter and it sucked in ash. The ash would melt in the combustion chambers fouling the spark plugs and coating the combustion chambers and valves really messing up the engine. o_O

So like I said, shit design, not fit for purpose. No intake filters.

When it comes to UV-B rays, it makes little difference whether there
are clouds or not.

Additionally, the Antarctic region is, by no means, the only place
where there is significant ozone depletion.

"Ozone depletion is not limited to the area over the South Pole.
Research has shown that ozone depletion occurs over the latitudes that
include North America, Europe, Asia, and much of Africa, Australia, and
South America. More information about the global extent of ozone
depletion can be found in the Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion:

Can you get a sunburn through clouds?
Reality: According to the SCF, up to 80 percent of the sun's UV rays can
pass through clouds. This is the reason people often end up with serious
sunburns on overcast days if they've spent time outside with no sun
protection.

Both basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are known as

You're the one making up bullshit. People get burnt in the sun, but not
when there's clouds. So clearly you're completely and utterly wrong.
As always, you are wrong again.
Can you get a sunburn through clouds?
Reality: According to the SCF, up to 80 percent of the sun's UV rays can
pass through clouds. This is the reason people often end up with serious
sunburns on overcast days if they've spent time outside with no sun
protection.
Do you actually live in reality? Have you never noticed you get
burnt in an hour or two on a sunny day, but never when it's cloudy?
Clouds are the best sunblock there is. Try to stick to actual events
you've observed yourself instead of believing bullshit you read on
the internet.
He is right if you are at a low latitude. A cloudy day in Florida will
fry your ass.
But a sunny day is 10 times worse. It's a simple fact that clouds
remove almost all the rays.
And wherever you live and whatever the weather, you get used to where
you live. People quickly adapt.
Both basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are known as
non-melanoma skin cancer. Approximately, two in three Australians will
be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70, with more than
750,000 people treated for one or more non-melanoma skin cancers in
Australia each year.12 Apr 2018

Probably the nitwits that use suncream. Then the one day they forget to, they get burnt or cancer. The sun is a natural phenomenon, let your body do it's job.

You also live in a place where the sun doesn't shine. Most of the
world is below the 55th parallel. In fact the only place in the
southern hemisphere below 55 is Antarctica and the very tip of South
America. Penguins don't get sunburn either.

Stop putting words into my mouth. I didn't say you couldn't get burned under clouds. I know I can't but then I have dark hair and skin.
What I actually said was that when there are no clouds, the sun is ten times stronger.
And as you're a redhead, this explains everything, you're more susceptible to sunlight, pain, everything, you guys are the weakest link.

"I was at the library."

"Okay, I was at a friend's house," the son admits.
"Doing what?" asked the father.
"Watching a movie: Toy Story."
The robot slaps the son.
"Okay, it was porn!" cried the son.
Father yells "What? When I was your age I didn't know what porn was!"
The robot slaps the father.
The mother laughs and says, "He certainly is your son!"
The robot slaps the mother.

80%. ROTFPMSL! Maybe 10%. Think of yourself or a friend who's fair skinned. Think of them outdoors on a cloudy day in summer, 8 hours of sun hidden behind clouds, no effect. Yet the next day the sun's out. Half an hour or so and they go red. Major difference! Observe with your eyes, not google.

I am just talking about real world experience. I live around the 26th
parallel and we have yankees come down here in august and september
telling us they have been running around Michigan or Ontario all
summer with their shirt off and they are immune to the sun. A few
hours later they are overcooked lobsters. Latitude means a lot more
than some minor change in an Ozone hole. It is simple geometry. How
long was that sun ray in the atmosphere? A hole directly over the
pole, or even above the arctic/antarctic circle makes very little
difference in solar UV penetration. That geometry thing again.
We were at the arctic circle on the solstice of 2004 (a pretty lonely
place) and the sun was very low on the horizon, all day and all night
but we never saw it shine down on us through that hole.

http://ozone.unep.org/Assessment_Panels/SynthesisReport2014.pdf
You're the one making up bullshit.  People get burnt in the sun, but
not when there's clouds.  So clearly you're completely and utterly wrong.
As always, you are wrong again.
Can you get a sunburn through clouds?
Reality: According to the SCF, up to 80 percent of the sun's UV rays can
pass through clouds. This is the reason people often end up with serious
sunburns on overcast days if they've spent time outside with no sun
protection.
People can get skin cancer even in the shade.

Even Negroes can get sunburn. Not as easily as pale Honkies but a hot enough sunny day can even damage unprotected human skin that has a high melanin content. A Negro friend of mine who is black, not brown but so black he walks into a room and absorbs all the light. He once went shirtless on a very hot and extremely sunny day and got a sunburn. The poor fellow was miserable. He had a pink glow to him. It was the strangest thing to see. o_O

Yup, many people think that black people don't get sunburn, but the
truth is, it is actually worse for them than white people.

Au contraire. Go out on a cloudy summer day exposing non tanned
skin for a couple hours or so. I did that once a long, long time ago.
I can still remember..............

Perhaps if you're really really pale. But now try going out on a blue sky day. You'll burn ten times faster.
