Well I heard the government is taking major steps to prohibit the import of
many electronics and chips as being a security threat given the
possibility/probability of unknown code or access embedded within the chips
themselves that could allow unauthorized access or loss of function in the
future when it benefits China. While the topic was geared towards self
driving vehicles the impression seemed that it would extend to all critical
infrastructure from including cell, network, processors, so on.

As far as how are we on a war footing, we're not, however, they are clearly
intent on extending and expanding both their territory and control, perhaps
to world domination or at least influence.

Their economy is growing and given their environmental damages... it has to
be wondered how long until the rest of the world turns against them..
economically or even militarily as they seek to expand their borders and
'influence'.
